bonjour hi friends!
I’m Alex Dion Kanjer, and welcome to my food blog. Super excited for you to be here!
I supposed I should tell you more about me as we are now friends. So, I started cooking when I was around 5 years old. I remember going to my grandma’s and watching her as she would make the most incredible pies. She would let me help by cutting the excess pie dough hanging off her glass pie dish (and not to toot my own horn, but I KNOW I was the best at it). That was my introduction to the kitchen.
My background is very different than most chefs and cooks you see online. I actually never attended culinary school. (Honestly, I didn’t even know it was a thing until a few years ago.) My teachers are the women (and some men too!) in my life who cook. I would study all of them when they were in the kitchen, ask them questions, and take notes in my brain.
“How did you make this?”
After years of cooking for myself, then for my partner (husband at this point, even though we’re not married, yet!), I am now on a mission to teach people how to make gourmet food at home. In the last few years, I hosted a few dinner parties and absolutely loved it. Two things kept coming out of people’s mouth after the first bite: “this is SO good!” and “how did you make this?”. And then I had a lightbulb moment:
this is my life’s calling.
With a background in web design and digital marketing, I could create a food blog to share my recipes with my family and friends (all over the world), and I could create content showing how to make the recipes. Or you could say that I have become my own version of Ina Garten. For the longest time, I had been watching cooking shows and was curious to try their food. I didn’t think that I would create my own (at least my at-home cooking show for now), but I truly feel like I can combine all of my skills into a magical project.
So thank you for tagging along and I look forward to all the good stuff (and food!) that is coming in the future!
