This pizza recipe is topped with plenty of good things that don't make it Italian, but oh so delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough ball
  • 1 cup marinara sauce divided
  • 1 tbsp flaky salt
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 spicy cured sausage 1/8 inch slices
  • 4 oz mushrooms, sautéed
  • 1 full head of garlic, slow-roasted
  • ½ cup fresh mozzarella, sliced or grated
  • ¼ cup honey to drizzle
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped to garnish

Method

  1. Form your pizza dough. Spread half of the marinara sauce on the pizza dough, leaving an edge of roughly 1 inch for the crust. Sprinkle the flaky salt and dried oregano all around the edge (on the crust).
Cook the pizza dough on a pre-heated pizza stone for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Remove the pizza dough from the pizza stone. Add more marinara sauce (if needed). Add all of the toppings: cured sausage, sautéed mushrooms, garlic cloves. Top the toppings with mozzarella cheese.
Put the pizza back on the pizza stone for 7-8 minutes, until the bottom has browned up and the cheese has melted.
  3. Remove the pizza from the pizza stone and put on a large cutting board. Let the pizza rest for 5-10 minutes, then drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh cilantro.
Cut the pizza in slices and serve immediately.
